Founder & CEO - Mitch Thiem

As the founder of Minor Chores, let me share my personal story. When I was just 10 years old, I kick-started a successful neighborhood venture called Poop Patrol, Inc. - "Make Every Step a Good One!" Over time, my business expanded to encompass a range of "Minor Chores," such as trash can cleaning, mailbox painting, dog walking, lawn mowing, and more while profiting $30-40/hour. Guided by my parents' invaluable lessons on financial responsibility and saving, I grew into a financially stable and confident young adult.

When I graduated from high school, I ended up going to college for Entrepreneurial Management with a Minor in Energy at Texas Christian University. Upon getting my degree, I immediately start working in the solar industry. After a successful 8+ years at small and large companies in the renewable industry, I'd saved up enough money to pursue my entrepreneurial dream and create Minor Chores.

Now, almost 20 years later, I am thrilled to present an app inspired by my upbringing—one that aims to benefit young entrepreneurs, parents, adults, and future generations alike. Minor Chores is not just about earning money; it's about imparting essential life skills and fostering financial stability from an early age.

Hiring a Mentor vs. Babysitter

Initially, our founder started hosting lemonade and dog wash stations with neighborhood kids for free to teach them about entrepreneurship. When the parent of the children said "You're a glorified babysitter", the mentoring idea was born!

Mentors are truly entrepreneurs themselves who can do a variety of things. They can host business events like lemonade stands, provide on the job training for certain chores, help with schoolwork, give sport lessons, and much more. When mentoring minors, the parents simply pay the mentor as if they were a babysitter (only better).
