As the founder of Minor Chores, let me share my personal story. When I was just 10 years old, I kick-started a successful neighborhood venture called Poop Patrol, Inc. - "Make Every Step a Good One!" Over time, my business expanded to encompass a range of "Minor Chores," such as trash can cleaning, mailbox painting, dog walking, lawn mowing, and more while profiting $30-40/hour. Guided by my parents' invaluable lessons on financial responsibility and saving, I grew into a financially stable and confident young adult.
When I graduated from high school, I ended up going to college for Entrepreneurial Management with a Minor in Energy at Texas Christian University. Upon getting my degree, I immediately start working in the solar industry. After a successful 8+ years at small and large companies in the renewable industry, I'd saved up enough money to pursue my entrepreneurial dream and create Minor Chores.
Now, almost 20 years later, I am thrilled to present an app inspired by my upbringing—one that aims to benefit young entrepreneurs, parents, adults, and future generations alike. Minor Chores is not just about earning money; it's about imparting essential life skills and fostering financial stability from an early age.
At Minor Chores, we have the vision and plan in place to take this App (and others...) nationwide and beyond! As we plan to launch in app stores in the summer of 2024, we are always open to talking with investors that believe in our mission! Parents: Are you tired of giving your kids an allowance? Are you tired of paying babysitters and getting nothing in return? Our marketplace of mentors and chore customers solve those problems!
Kids: Our app doesn't just help you make money, it has business resources that provide guidance how to grow your business and become financially responsible at a young age. We encourage everyone to start saving and make that hard earned money work for you!
Initially, our founder started hosting lemonade stands and dog wash stations with neighborhood kids for free to teach them about entrepreneurship. When the parent of the children said "You're a glorified babysitter", a mentoring idea was born!
While adult Chore-preneurs on the app are called 'Masters', they can also me mentors. They can host business events like lemonade stands, provide on the job training for certain chores, help with schoolwork, give sport lessons, and much more. When mentoring minors, the parents simply pay the mentor as if they were a babysitter (only better).
Kids get to learn about all aspects of running a business while actually making money which simply can't be taught in school!
Not only will kids be ahead of their class from a business standpoint, but they will be able to describe the entrepreneurial and leadership skills on their resume and in interviews!
"Poop Patrol: 'Make Every Step a Good One!' is still on my resume."
Being your own boss allows kids to make money working on their schedule, providing them more free time for school work and extracurricular activities.
All of our users including parents, chore-preneurs, and chore customers reap the benefits from Minor Chores as a service fee free platform. Our subscription model is an extremely affordable marketplace that allows service providers to keep all the money from the work performed and create a competitive bidding process for our customers to find an affordable help for those odd jobs.
